The article presents the results of tests of beams made of polystyrene concrete containing 60% regranulate EPS (expanded polystyrene), which has been reinforced with ecological raw material in the form of properly prepared sheep wool. 3-point bending tests were carried out, and in order to determine the deformability of the tested elements, a new measurement method was used with the use of fiber-optic deformation sensors with a Bragg mesh (Fiber Bragg Grating — FBG). The aim of the research was to determine the value of Young's modulus for 3 variants of samples made of polystyrene concrete. The introduction of a cement mortar in the lower layer of polystyrene in the sample with sheep wool fibers increased the value of Young's modulus by 18.9% in relation to the sample without wool. The use of waste wool fibers enables effective waste management and reduction of the consumption of natural aggregate in the mix.
