Expansion joints are places where the continuity of the external building envelope is interrupted. This is particularly dangerous from the point of view of achieving watertightness and durability of the waterproofing insulations. Article summarizes how to design seal expansion joints depending on the type of water load, shows the effects of leakages through joints and provides rules for the implementation of their repairs.
