The use of porous asphalt in the wearing course of a road pavement has a significant effect on reducing tyre/road noise levels. The parameters characterising the acoustic properties of the wearing course are sound absorption coefficient and water permeability. This paper presents an analysis of the results of a study of the sound absorption coefficient and water permeability of porous asphalt mixtures.Asignificant influence of the air voids content of the mixture on the values of the parameters studied was found.
