In Norway, with the participation of the Polish design office, an expressway is designed and built based exclusively on digital models. Revolutionary approach was applied, bypassing traditional paper documentation and limiting the number of drawings and documents to only a few files stored in the cloud. Parametric modeling was used to obtain complicated geometry. Communication and coordination were improved thanks to the proprietary data exchange platform. BIM technology was implemented at the construction site, eliminating material lists and reinforcement drawings. This article describes the design cycle of one of the forty bridge constructions on the E6 expressway, presenting all stages step by step.
