One of the method of strenghten the brick pillars was reinforced concrete casing of pillar. This article presents the negative effects of such a solution using the example of the pillars in the Żary Town Hall. Currently, the reinforced concrete casing of the pillars, the brick pillars and the vaults show numerous cracks of different nature, widths and lengths. These cracks have mostly formed as a result of tensile forces accompanying the expansion of the reinforced concrete casing of the pillars caused by corrosion of the reinforcement.
