The paper describes the results of testing Autoclaved Aerated Concrete (AAC) walls on a natural scale. The walls were made of 18 cm wide blocks and thin layer joints. The tests of unconfined (with unfilled and filled head joints) and confined walls (with unfilled and filled head joints) weremade. During the tests loads and deformations of walls were monitored and the values of crack and destructive forces were determined. Tests have shown the effect of confining and filling the joints with mortar on the compressive strength of the wall. The load-bearing capacity and deformability of walls was analysed. Keywords: confinedmasonry, AACmasonry, compression tests, tests on a natural scale.
