The article discusses the use of PBO fibers as a reinforcement of reinforced concrete beams. PBO fiber are a part of the FRCM (Fibre Reinforced Cementitious Matrix) system which is a good alternative to known FRP (Fibre Reinforced Polymers) systems, especially for buildings where there may be high temperatures. The PBO-FRCM shows a different type of work than systems based on epoxy resins, which is associated with the use of mineral mortar as a matrix. The authors pointed out the major problems associated with the use of this type of system that is appropriate anchorage of composite and premature debonding of the fibers from the matrix.
