The paper presents the results of confined (6 walls) made of masonry elements with AAC. Overall dimensions were: thickness t = 0.18 m, length l = 4.43 m and the height of h = 2.43 m. The walls were tested at initial compressive stresses perpendicular to the plane of the bed joints σc = 0,1; 0,75; and 1,0 N/mm2. In the confinedmodels two external vertical cores and two horizontal beams were made, which were reinforced in accordance with the requirements of PN-EN-1996-1-1. The morphology of cracking and the mechanism of destruction were analyzed. Keywords: AAC; shear walls; confined walls; cracks patterns; failure mechanism.
