The article concerns the historical conditions for the creation of the Industrial Construction category with prospects for its development in the 21st century.Design solutions adequate to the stages of the industrial revolution and contemporary requirements for such objects were presented. The role of pro-ecological thinking in design, construction and operation processes was emphasized. Keywords: industrial revolutions; old and new generation buildings; ecology.
