Autogenous shrinkage together with other factors affecting the total shrinkage can lead to cracking of the structure during its operation even without presence of external loads. This paper presents the effectiveness of the use of standardized measurement methods in terms of accuracy and completeness of autogenous shrinkage of pastes, mortars and concretes. Based on the conducted analyses, a research apparatus and methodology was proposed to eliminate the disadvantages of standard methods.
