Title categories of concepts repair, maintenance and revitalization has been defined in legal and technical categories. Sustainable development and in consequence sustainable construction are becoming civilizational necessity. In Poland are also the Constitutional requirement. In the paper cultural aspects of sustainable construction has been widely discussed. Educational challenges brought by sustainable construction has been presented. Tasks related to preserving durability, respect for tradition, conservational requirements and sustainable conditions, along with satisfying needs of modernization can lead to contradiction. Concept of sustainable construction is impelling for looking for new materials and construction solutions and innovation in technology of building construction. In consequence many times architecture has been subordinated to modernization technology and low energy usage. Change of the construction paradigmwill have permanent character, dictated by development of technical possibilities.
