The aim of the article is to analyse the polish market of building materials with respect to still widely used Teriva multirib floor system. The article was prepared on the basis of the available literature and quantitative research on popularity of floor systems and selection criteria from a technical and economical point of view out in the period from Sept. 2015 to Feb. 2016. In the article it was shown that Teriva multi-rib floor systems are among the most popular floor solutions on the market, they rely on almost 40 years old technological solutions which do not conform to the requirements of the today's market, such as high technical parameters, time-effectiveness and ease of installation, overall cost-effectiveness. Moreover, the vast majority of the Teriva floor systems offered on Polish market had been based on outdated documentation incompatible with the Eurocode. Although this specificmarket segment is evolving to slowly. Some beneficial changes stemming frommodern prefabrication, as well as systemic unification and standardisation. In order for modern floor solutions to be widely used, appropriate education and promotion od modern solutions is necessary. Nevertheless, they are bound to become dominant solutions in the foreseeable future. Keywords: market of floor systems; determinants of selection of floor systems; multi-rib systems; Teriva, prefabricated floors.
