The paper presents a comparative study of the two beams under long-termstatic loading. Both beamswere externally strengthened along the bottom surface, one by adhering the SRP tape (Steel Reinforced Polymer), the second CFRP strip (Carbon Fibre Reinforced Polymer). Received deflection of a SRP tape were slightly larger, as a result of smaller effective cross-sectional area of the strengthening. In both cases, the results demonstrate high efficiency gains in reducing deflections, when strengthening is applied to the element with a small initial deflection.
