The article presents traffic calming as a form of reducing the level of road noise, which is an example of the method that reduces noise in the area of emissions. Noise level tests were carried out on road No. 824 and on the Włostowice estate, which is located close to this road. In the area, traffic calming has been comprehensively implemented by hierarchizing the road network, managing the speed zones and introducing the number of technical elements of traffic calming. On the basis of the obtained test results, a graph of noise level variation was made depending on the occurrence of traffic calming elements and also an acoustic climate map in the estate. With the help of the generated isolines, it was possible to determine the silence zones and prove that they can be present even in estates located along roads with a transit function.
