Life cycle assessment (LCA) is a tool, commonly used in construction sector since ‘90s of the XX century to quantify the environmental loads associated with a production of construction elements and buildings construction, and to support sustainable development. Unfortunately, due to limited access of data and time-consuming data acquisition, LCAis usually omitted in an investment process. Utilization of BIM model which is consider as a repository for building data is considered as a promising path for development of an environmental assessment of buildings. This paper presents utility of BIM technology for simplification of LCA.
Keywords: life cycle assessment (LCA); BIM model; environmental loads; sustainable development.
