Hemp-lime composite (hempcrete) has been used in construction for over 30 years. The main advantages of the material are thermal and hygric properties and low environmental impact. The article presents a literature review of research methods and experimental results in order to describe the durability of the composite. The material is resistant to changing humidity conditions as well as biological and chemical corrosion, and at the same time loses itsmechanical strength in contact with water. The literature review indicates the complexity of the issues and numerous technical andmethodological limitations resulting in the lack of clear conclusions.
