The paper presents the mechanism of initiation and propagation of fatigue cracks in continuous strip connectors used in steel-concrete composite structures. Selected results of experimental investigations performed on POST and NPOT specimens as well as on composite beams with PZ-type connectors are discussed. Particular attention was focused on the behaviour of composite beams subjected to bending, since they most accurately reflect the actual stress state of the connectors resulting from the simultaneous action of normal stresses caused by bending and longitudinal shear stresses. It was demonstrated that fatigue cracks initiate in the regions of geometric notches located at the base of the steel teeth, while their further propagation depends on the geometry of the element, the local stress distribution and the manufacturing technology.

W artykule przedstawiono mechanizm inicjacji i propagacji pęknięć zmęczeniowych w ciągłych łącznikach listwowych stosowanych w zespolonych konstrukcjach stalowo- betonowych.
