Since the end of the twentieth century in Poland the ban on the production and use of asbestos is applied. In 2002 the national program of disposal of this asbestos-waste was enacted.According to assumptions, thewhole process should be completed by 2032 and this programrecommends that asbestos-containingmaterials should be completely eliminated from the use and safe stored at special places of landfills destined for hazardouswaste. In halfway through the duration of national program, on the Poland territory a huge amount – counted in millions of tons – of asbestos-containing materials is still used. This article presents the main directions of use. Based on the data commonly available from the national asbestos problemdatabase the implementation status of the national program is also presented.
