The paper presents the directions of searching for new solutions in the range of concrete admixtures. The admixtures, as the concrete itself, should have well defined performance, which is essential for keeping the technical and economical rationality. The areas of modification, which are particularly important for the concrete technology, have been described, as well as the needs and possibilities of shaping the structure of the used chemical compounds, also at the molecular level.
