This study is devoted to the method of identification of electromagnetic wave velocity based on the analysis of diffractions due to the presence of inclusions in reinforced concrete, masonry and reinforced concrete masonry composite structures. Three mathematical models describing diffractions characteristic for a circular inclusion, a vertical inclusion at the scanning surface and a boundary between two media with a circular inclusion in one of them are derived. Numerical analyses using the finite-difference time-domain method were performed to confirm the effectiveness of the presented mathematical models in the identification of the wave propagation velocity. The proposed method was verified on experimental GPR data. Keywords: non-destructive diagnostics; GPRmethod; reinforced concrete structures; masonry structures.
