This paper presents the results of fracture toughness and at the Mode II on concrete with silica fume (SF) in an amount of 10% and siliceous fly ash (FA) in an amount of: 0%, 10% and 20%. Strength tests were performed on a MTS testing machine 809 Axial / Torsional Test System, on cubic samples having a side of 150 mm with two initial cracks, after 28 days of curing. In the course of experiments we sought to determine the effect of adding silica fume to the value of the critical stress intensity factor in the fly ash concrete. Analysis of the obtained results made it possible to draw a conclusion that SF causes a significant increase in fracture toughness in the concrete with FA additive.
