The paper presents some repairing problems of damaged masonry buildings, located throughout the Silesian region. These buildings show a strong cracking caused by the static and dynamic influences which are the result of underground mining. The traditional repair methods do not always protect the building from the effects of the recurrence of paraseismic interactions. Composite materials used as a superficial strengthening of masonry structures could be a good solution. They improve the deformability of the structure and increase its shear resistance.
