Polish technical and construction regulations require roof coverings to be none spreading fire (in some cases roofs that spread the fire poorly). These regulations also specify the relationship between the spread of fire and the roof's resistance to external fire, which is determined on the basis of PKN-CEN/TS 1187 [4]. Green roofs have the same fire requirements as other roofs. However, there are doubts as to the method of testing and assessing such roofs in the field of fire properties. The article presents the results of investigations of intensive and extensive green roofs, in a classical and inverted layout. The rules for assessing these roofs in this area and technical solutions limiting the spread of fire on green roofs are also presented. Keywords: green roofs; resistance to external fire.
